June 25 My favorite icewine
Peller Estates Andrew Peller Signature Series Riesling Icewine Icewine & Late Harvest Naturally frozen Riesling grapes are harvested at -10°C and pressed in the frozen state. Since the must is 80% water and frozen solid at this temperature, only the smallest amount of pure extract is pressed from these grapes.
The 2002 vintage shows a glimmering, lemon yellow colour with an enticing bouquet of marmalade, mandarin oranges and candied citrus peel with notes of honey. Lemon meringue pie and sweet orange fill the mouth of this medium to full-bodied dessert wine. Amazing acidity balances the wonderful sweetness.
Awards: (just to name a few)
Gold Medal – American Wine Society International Competition 2003
Prestige Trophy - Citadelles du Vin, Bordeaux, France 2004
Critical Acclaim: 90 Points out of 100 - Natalie MacLean, Nat Decants Wine Newsletter (November 4, 2004)
Serve slightly chilled (8 - 10°C) just by itself in a dainty, small white wine glass or savour with foie gras, sweet fruit based desserts or soft, blue veined cheese.
Enjoy now to 2009. |
